As a student of this day and age, I feel that school back in the olden days was so much simpler.  Instead of thinking about the work at hand, we focus on nurturing virtual relationships and finishing multiple seasons of missed TV shows in a few days.  It's almost impossible to find the focus amidst the constant Facebook creeping and illegal downloading most of us partake in.  Just think, back when our parents and grandparents met possibly in the early 1900's, they had no text messages, no TV programs to sway their values and no Facebook statuses to update every few minutes.  Love was true love, and technology didn't intrude.  The lives of our parents were golden, they were something we will never experience the simplicity of.  Instead of buying everything, they made due with the materials they had.  I ask my mom to tell me stories of her childhood, simple things that stood out in her memory.  These simple memories that my generation will never have.  When the box of Army and Navy clothing came in, when she'd sit in the basement and play school with her sisters, how she took a bus 15 hours to Victoria to enrol in her university courses.  My mom didn't have google maps on her smartphone to make sure she got to where she was going, she didn't have internet search engines to make sure she knew what to expect with where she was going, she didn't have limewire to download music.  It was all about trying, failing and using a good old fashioned record player.  Sometimes when we feel like things are so overwhelmingly impossible, we have our mothers to look up to.  They made it through, they raised us and we are working every day to achieve everything that they have.
